You can send e-mail from Xnews if you enter a valid SMTP server.

Okay, I've done that. MSN requires authentication, and I've entered that
information as well. MSN also requires encryption (SSL), and I don't see a
way to do that.

I've used stunnel with Xnews for secure nntp, but never for smtp. I imagine
it would work fine. Just google for stunnel and smtp and you should find
what you need.

There's a setup guide for stunnel at
<http://www.cotse.n­et/users/putty/ssl.h­tm>, but it covers only nntp.

I'm guessing that MSN accepts secure smpt connections on port 25, in
which case you need something like this in your stunnel.conf:

[msn_smtp]
accept = 127.0.0.1:25
connect = smtp.email.msn.com:­25

If port 25 doesn't work, you might try smtp.email.msn.com:­465.
